Shoulder Injuries

Shoulder Injuries

The shoulder is the most flexible joint in the body, capable of a number of complex movement patterns.
The group of muscles the governs the integrity of the shoulder joint are called the rotator cuff and are responsible for the majority of shoulder pain presentations. A number of other structures around the region can also contribute to pain in the shoulder, including bursa (small fluid filled sacks which allow muscles and tendons to glide over each other), ligaments (which hold the bones together) and a large plexus of nerves which run through the region on their way to the upper limb. True to osteopathic principles, we will always treat the surrounding structures, where appropriate, to improve clinical outcomes.
